Overview

I use blocklists that block the majority of ads and tracking, while aiming to not impact normal traffic. Of course some unexpected blocking can happen for various reasons, however that’s the risk of using any ad-blocking service!

The lists that I have configured for all Adfilter servers/locations are listed below. These lists result in me receiving minimal complaints for the users of my home network, so that’s a good start in my books :-)

Advertisement blocklists

AdGuard DNS filter - A filter composed of several other filters (AdGuard Base filter, Social media filter, Tracking Protection filter, Mobile Ads filter, EasyList and EasyPrivacy) and simplified specifically to be better compatible with DNS-level ad blocking.

1Hosts - (Lite) version. Balanced, set & forget, doesn’t hamper user experience. Safeguard against pesky ads, trackers, and malware.

Hagezi - Light version. Basic protection. Cleans the Internet and protects your privacy! Blocks Ads, Tracking, Metrics and some Badware.

OISD - Small version. Aims to block Ads, (Mobile) App Ads, Phishing, Malvertising, Malware, Spyware, Ransomware, CryptoJacking, Scam, Telemetry, Analytics, Tracking

Malware blocklists

AdGuard Browsing Security - The AdGuard phishing, malware, safe browsing service.

Dandelion Sprout’s Anti-Malware List - Blocks heavily abused top-level domains, blocks domains used in malware redirection trains and in domain parking schemes, blocks sponsored Windows PUP nags on PC guide articles, uses mass blocking of domains belonging to bad IPs.
